Dungeon Master(GMのことです)をするのに必携なのがこの本……なのですが、これをポンと渡されてじゃあDMします、とできる人がどれだけあろうか(いやおるまい)。

その点では、この通称DMGよりも必要なのは親切で的確なアドバイスができる先達です。1970年代、仲間内でどんどんルールを作り上げて楽しんでいたので、「まー全部説明せずとも空気で判るよね?」みたいなノリが見て取れますね。先輩たちからの申し送りを後輩たちが連綿と受け継いでいく、その麗しき慣習の異物がこの本と言えるでしょう。

プレイヤをするだけならこの本はもちろん不要です。
